"Freddie the Fire Truck" was purchased in 1999 through the generous donations of the following agencies: •Camp Stella Maris •Conesus Fire Department •Eastman Kodak Company •Hemlock Fire Commissioners •Hemlock Fire Department •Lakeville Exempt Club •Lakeville Fire Commissioners •Lakeville Fire Department •Livonia Central School •Livonia Fire Commissioners •Livonia Fire Department •Livonia Kiwanis Club •Livonia Rotary Club •Maletta Foundation •Town of Livonia •Village of Livonia The fire prevention team has organized local participation in the EDITH program (Exit Drills In The Home). Local media attention has been brought to this activity. Counseling sessions are also provided for juvenile fire starters. This is part of the rehabilitation program for those children that have been involved in prior incidents. The Department has provided free smoke detectors to needy families in the area and has even assisted with the installation of the units. Fire extinguisher training for local citizens is provided at various times during the year. Special drills and staff training for the local nursing homes, senior citizens complex and facility for handicapped adults are held annually. The Fire Department presents fire prevention programs at the following activities: West's Shurfine Fall Harvest Days, the Hemlock Fair, and Livonia Community Days.
